How to read the table

Usually open is the operator's or the road authority's own description of the season, not a date you can rely on. 2026 is what was published for this year when the page was checked; a pass that shows "closing date not yet announced" in October is open until the authority says otherwise. Hours matter on the toll roads, such as the Grossglockner and the Timmelsjoch, which shut at night. Status now links to the page I would open before setting off.

"Not published" means exactly that: I looked for the figure on the official pages and did not find it. It is not the same as "none".

What I would check before a pass day

• The status page that morning, not the night before. The table shows how often a pass closes for a single morning, for a bike race or a car-free event.
• Chains in the boot from October, even inside the season: the Grossglockner operator warns that they can be required up high. The rules for each country are on the winter driving page.
• Your vehicle against the Vehicles column. Length, width and weight limits apply to motorhomes and to cars towing a caravan; a toll road may also charge by weight. More on that on the motorhomes page.
• The motorway on the way there. The pass road and the motorway that leads to it are separate: a toll road's ticket does not cover the motorway, and a motorway vignette does not cover a private toll road. See tolls and vignettes.
