Driving rules by country: what to know before the border
Verdict
Four countries have a full guide so far: France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Each one gathers the speed limits, tolls, zones, fines and kit you must carry, read from the country's own traffic code and ministry pages. For the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland, the low-emission zone pages are the rules page for now.
A country guide answers one question: what do I need to drive here, and what does it cost if I get it wrong? The topic pages go deeper on one subject across countries: tolls and vignettes, low-emission zones, winter driving, hire cars and EV charging.
