How these routes are chosen

Pick the month you travel and the city you drive from. Each route is seven nights, with the reason to go in that month and what to watch for. Every reason comes from a tourism board, a city or an event organiser, with the date. The kilometres, driving hours and costs are worked out from the same road data and official prices as the rest of this site. Driving costs only: fuel at each country's average price (5 to 8 litres per 100 km), the cheapest vignettes for your days, the tolls and crossings whose price is published. Not hotels, food, parking or a hire car.

Choose the city you drive from and each route says how long the drive is to its nearest stop: every route is a loop, so you can join it there. The times are motorway estimates from the same road data as the trip planner, without stops or traffic. Two- and three-week routes are being researched.
