Switzerland: all 2 pages

Verdict

CHF 40 buys the only vignette Switzerland sells, so one afternoon costs the same as the whole term.

The 2026 vignette is valid from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027. Driving without it is a CHF 200 fine, and you still owe the CHF 40.

Switzerland sells no day pass and no ten-day vignette. A single afternoon on the A2 costs CHF 40, the same as 14 months of driving.

The e-vignette is tied to your number plate, so there is nothing to stick on the glass. Buy it before the border, not after the first camera.

Switzerland: vignette prices for a car
VignettePrice
2026 vignetteCHF 40

For a car up to 3.5 tonnes, prices as checked on 3 October 2026. One vignette only. The 2026 one is valid from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027; the 2027 price was not checked.

Buy the E-Vignette at via.admin.ch or e-vignette.ch

You can buy a sticker or the e-vignette. The e-vignette is sold at via.admin.ch and at e-vignette.ch, which the customs office lists as its own address. Any other site selling it is a reseller.

The e-vignette is the easier choice for a hire car, because there is nothing to stick on its windscreen.

Pay CHF 40 Rather Than CHF 240

Driving on a motorway without a valid vignette is a CHF 200 fine, and you still owe the CHF 40: CHF 240 in all. That is the price of risking one afternoon.

How the reseller sites work: the reseller swarm. Slovenia also sells no day pass: the Slovenian vignette.

Buy the CHF 40 e-vignette on the official site before the border, however short the drive. Every rule on this page comes from the Swiss Confederation's and the customs office's own pages, checked on 18 September 2026.
